Working across cultures
Improve your communication skills on a six week advanced level course that focuses on the English you need when working in cultures other than your own. During each session, you will discuss different cultural topics and read authentic texts from the Financial Times and other sources. For example articles such as Making cultural diversity work, Modernising the Japanese way of working , How Cisco plans to attract local talent and Why a successful merger is all in the mind. In addition, you will learn new expressions and expand your vocabulary.
Amongst others, we will discuss:
- Doing business in foreign markets
- International mergers
- Working in international teams
- Training and development
- Living and working in a foreign country
We recommend that you buy the book Working Across Cultures (Pearson Longman), ISBN 9781408220030, before the course starts. The book has been developed in cooperation with The Financial Times. We will study selected chapters.
You can buy the book here: academicbooks.dk or at Academic Books, Øster Farimagsgade 5A, 1353 Copenhagen K.
You will have access to our online learning platform, Moodle, where you will find the course plan, teaching material, homework and other useful online resources for learning English, which your teacher has selected for you and your class. Via Moodle, you can also communicate with your teacher and fellow students.
The number of students on all courses at the Cambridge Institute is just 4-8. Small classes mean that your teacher has more time to help you personally during each lesson.
Preparation time: 1-2 hours per week.
