Maximise your chances of passing the B1 Preliminary Cambridge exam!

Taught by Cambridge speaking examiners and invigilators, this course will give you essential hints and tips to ensure that you are well prepared for the Cambridge Preliminary exam.

The Cambridge Preliminary exam can be used as immigration documentation for family reunification. Unlike the IELTS and TOEFL exams, which only last two years, a Cambridge certificate lasts a lifetime. This course prepares you for the revised B1 Preliminary Exam 2020. For further details click here:
https://www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams-and-tests/preliminary/exam-format/2020-update/

Each of the ten sessions of the course will cover elements of a specific exam part:

  • Writing

  • Reading & Use of English

  • Listening

  • Speaking & review

You will have the opportunity to practice your writing by answering five previous writing exam questions for which you will receive detailed feedback from your teacher. This will ensure you are ready for the writing exam and will also give your teacher an insight into any grammatical problems you may need help with.

On this course, you will complete selected chapters from the Complete Preliminary book, which is full of authentic exam tasks plus exercises that are designed to maximise your performance in the actual exam.

The book includes access to online practice, which contains a vocabulary section, downloadable audio, grammar tests and information about common exam errors. This gives you the opportunity to practice at home through self-study.

You should expect 2-4 hours of preparation each week, which includes the written assignments.

Note! This course requires a confirmed start level of B1. To find your current level, please take our free online test here: cambridgeinstitute.dk/en/test.

Studieskolen is the only test centre in Denmark that is allowed to arrange the Cambridge English exams and as Cambridge Institute is a part of Studieskolen, when you participate in the course, you will receive a 10% discount on the price of the exam, which is normally 2,295 kr.

  • Follow the teaching and catch up via Moodle if you are ill or absent.

The number of students on all courses at the Cambridge Institute is just 4-8. Small classes mean that your teacher has more time to help you personally during each lesson.

Ben Galvin

Ben is a TESOL qualified teacher with a strong business background gained in the telecoms and insurance industries. He is a qualified telecoms engineer and has worked on some interesting and unusual projects in his telecoms career. Ben is from West Yorkshire in the north of England and is a keen hiker. Living so close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park gave him the chance to walk in some of England’s most beautiful countryside.

Ben moved to Denmark and began teaching a year ago and he really enjoys watching his students develop their English skills and seeing their confidence grow. He loves meeting people from all over the world and learning about different cultures.

Ben recommends:
Food & drink: a homemade steak and ale pie and a pint of Black Sheep bitter in a cosy Dales pub, especially good after a long day’s hiking!
Places to visit: The beautiful and historic city of York, the modern and vibrant city of Leeds and the idyllic village of Kettlewell.
Learning tips: Watch English television and listen to English radio, it’s a great way to learn from native speakers. Never be afraid to speak, it doesn’t matter if you make mistakes.
