A1.4 Conversation and grammar for almost beginners
This course is for you if you want to start learning English from the beginning.
You will learn the important basics such as how to greet people and you will be able to have short conversations. You will also learn how to:
- ask simple questions about where people are from, what they do, how old they are, what the time is, etc.
- welcome business partners
- greet people in different situations and at different times of the day
- count to 100
- write short texts such as updates on social media
At the same time, you will get a thorough introduction to English grammar including to be and to have, pronouns and singular and plural. You will have the opportunity to practise your language skills through short role-plays, discussions and written exercises.
Before the course starts, we recommend that you buy the book: Navigate A1 Beginner Course book with DVD and Oxford Online Skills (Oxford University Press), ISBN 9780194539739. We will study selected pages from the first three chapters of the book. The book comes with a DVD and access to an online skills programme for self-study outside the classroom
Because this is a beginner course, we do not use a business English course book unlike on our other courses, but your teacher will introduce business topics whenever possible.
You can buy the book here: academicbooks.dk or at Academic Books, Øster Farimagsgade 5A, 1353 Copenhagen K.
You will have access to our online learning platform, Moodle, where you will find the course plan, teaching material, homework and other useful online resources for learning English, which your teacher has selected for you and your class. Via Moodle, you can also communicate with your teacher and fellow students.
The number of students on all courses at the Cambridge Institute is a maximum of 8. Small classes mean that your teacher has more time to help you personally during each lesson.
Preparation time: 1-2 hours per week.
