B1+.1 and B1+.2 Business conversation and writing - super intensive
Do you want to improve your good English skills quickly?
One of our popular super-intensive courses, which is ideal for those who want to improve their already good business English skills quickly. Together with a maximum of seven fellow students, you will practise your spoken and written English intensively for eight days over the course of two weeks.
In addition, you will also have assignments to do at home, which means you will really be studying the language in depth. If you have not already been on a super-intensive course, you will be surprised what a difference the intensity makes to the result as you can expect to make significant progress in a short space of time.
On this course, topics for discussion will include:
- different leadership styles
- team work
- conflict management
We will also read the following articles Recipes for team building, No more easy money, Customer service is changing the world and How not to take care of a brand / Expect the unexpected from The Financial Times.
During the course, you will learn how to handle workplace conflicts in English and ask and answer difficult questions. You will also write an email to motivate a sales department and prepare a presentation.
This course is for you if you want to improve your English quickly.
40 lessons in two weeks! Of course, this will be reflected in the progress you make with fluency, pronunciation, and the accuracy and clarity of your spoken and written English.
With four sessions per week plus homework, you will be working on improving your English skills on almost a daily basis. This means you will get into a completely different rhythm than if you were only attending classes once per week and you will not have forgotten the new vocabulary you have learnt when it is time for the next class.
On this course, you will typically meet students who are also highly motivated to improve their English. Students on the intensive courses often need to improve their English quickly in order to advance their career or because they have to change jobs or need to give a presentation in English in their current position.
Skills and topics
Because of the importance of focusing on careers, we spend some time on participating in meetings as the culture of meetings differs in international contexts. We focus, amongst others, on some specific useful phrases that will make it easier for you to be heard, whether you are chairing the meeting or simply attending a meeting others have arranged.
In addition, we focus on improving your skills regarding telephone conferences, writing the minutes of a meeting and we discuss conducting business internationally including the unwritten and social rules and how to establish and maintain professional networks across borders.
Additional topics for discussion include the various forms companies can take, financing, economic development, the stock exchange, shares, the financial crisis, investments, and various aspects of business travel. Therefore, you will learn many useful new words and gain a lot of relevant knowledge you can use in your job.
You will also have the opportunity to discuss your favourite brands with your fellow participants and read the article Building luxury brands, which was published in The Financial Times. Finally, you will also learn about the most important differences between British and American English.
We will also increase the accuracy of your English by focusing on grammar to ensure that you create a good impression on your business associates.
We recommend that you buy the book Market Leader 3rd Edition Extra Intermediate Course book with DVD-ROM Pack (Pearson Education ESL), ISBN 978-1292134772, before the course starts. The book has been developed in cooperation with The Financial Times. We will study selected pages from the first six chapters.
You can buy the book here: www.academicbooks.dk, or at Academic Books, Øster Farimagsgade 5A, 1353 Copenhagen K.
You will have access to our online learning platform, Moodle, where you will find the course plan, teaching material, homework and other useful online resources for learning English, which your teacher has selected for you and your class. Via Moodle, you can also communicate with your teacher and fellow students.
The number of students on all courses at the Cambridge Institute is just 4-8. Small classes mean that your teacher has more time to help you personally during each lesson.
