On this course you will discuss what makes companies and people successful. What are the motivational factors that drive staff? In addition, you will discuss the topic of risk - the varying degrees of risk, risk versus opportunity and managing risk.

You will take part in role-plays related to negotiations and learn expressions used when bargaining, checking understanding and signaling.

You will have the opportunity to fine-tune your grammar and expand your vocabulary with words like extremely and slightly and prefixes such as un, multi, mis, over, out, in and ultra.

You will write assignments including a press release, an email outlining relationship guidelines at work, and a report on risk.

Teaching material
We recommend that you buy the book Market Leader 3rd Edition Extra Upper Intermediate Coursebook with DVD-ROM Pack (Pearson Education ESL, ISBN 9781292134819, before the course starts. The book has been developed in cooperation with The Financial Times.
We will study selected pages from chapters 4-6.

Practical information
You will have access to our online learning platform, Moodle, where you will find the course plan, teaching material, homework and other useful online resources for learning English, which your teacher has selected for you and your class. Via Moodle, you can also communicate with your teacher and fellow students.
The number of students on all courses at the Cambridge Institute is just 4-8. Small classes mean that your teacher has more time to help you personally during each lesson.
Preparation time: 1-2 hours per week.

Ann Gloster

Ann is from Ireland. She has a B.A. degree in Psychology and Philosophy from University College Dublin , as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychology. Ann took a TEFL course in Dublin in 1980. Since then she has taught English in Ireland, Germany and Denmark and has over thirty years teaching experience.
