How to hold successful meetings, dealing with stress and entertainment are some of the topics discussed on this course. Therefore, you will learn vocabulary connected to presenting ideas, chairing a meeting, making arguments and engaging in small talk.
You will read the article Over half of all business owners feeling increasingly stressed and write a report with suggestions about how to reduce stress amongst employees.
You will also discuss case studies relating to the topics and write an invitation email and a letter recommending a project.

In terms of grammar, we will study, e.g. the past simple and past continuous, present perfect and multiword verbs such as take up, turn down, look into etc.

As small talk is an important part of professional communication, we will practise role-plays in which you introduce people, accept and decline offers, respond to comments, ask for clarification and thank someone.

Teaching material
We recommend that you buy the book Market Leader 3rd Edition Extra Pre-Intermediate Course book with DVD-ROM Pack (Pearson Education ESL), ISBN 9781292134796, before the course starts. The book has been developed in cooperation with The Financial Times. We will study selected pages from chapters 4-6.

You can buy the book here: academicbooks.dk or at Academic Books, Øster Farimagsgade 5A, 1353 Copenhagen K.

Practical information
You will have access to our online learning platform, Moodle, where you will find the course plan, teaching material, homework and other useful online resources for learning English, which your teacher has selected for you and your class. Via Moodle, you can also communicate with your teacher and fellow students.

The number of students on all courses at the Cambridge Institute is just 4-8. Small classes mean that your teacher has more time to help you personally during each lesson.

Preparation time: 1-2 hours per week.
