Maximise your chances of passing the B2 First Cambridge exam!

Taught by Cambridge speaking examiners and invigilators, this short intensive course will give you essential hints and tips to ensure that you are well prepared for the exam.

A B2 First qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English. Unlike the IELTS and TOEFL exams, which only last for two years, a Cambridge B2 First certificate lasts a lifetime.

Each of the five sessions of the course focuses on a specific exam part:

  • Session 1 Writing

  • Session 2 Reading and Use of English

  • Session 3 Listening

  • Session 4 Speaking

  • Session 5 Review and exam practicalities

You will practise your writing by answering three previous writing exam questions for which you will receive detailed feedback from your teachers. This will ensure you are ready for the writing exam and will give your teacher an insight into any grammatical problems you may need help with.

On this course, you will complete unit 1-5 in the Cambridge Compact First book, which is full of authentic exam tasks plus exercises that are designed to maximise your performance in the actual exam.

The book includes access to an online exam TestBank, which contains four full past exam papers to give you the opportunity to practice at home through self-study.
You should expect 2-4 hours of preparation each week, which includes the written assignments.

Note! This course requires a confirmed start level of B2. To find your current level, please take our free online test here: cambridgeinstitute.dk/en/test

Studieskolen is the only test centre in Denmark that is allowed to arrange the Cambridge English exams and as Cambridge Institute is a part of Studieskolen, when you participate in the course, you will receive a 10% discount on the price of the exam, which is normally 2,295 kr.

Teaching material
Cambridge English: Compact First, Student's Book with Answers with TestBank second edition (Cambridge University Press). ISBN 9781107542495
You should buy the book before the start of the course. You can either buy the book online at academicbooks.dk or at their shop:

The Moodle learning platform
Moodle is the online course platform of Cambridge Institute, which we use for all our courses. You will be given personal access to your course Moodle page, where you can:

  • Find your course plan and teaching material

  • Find homework

  • Watch videos and click on links to useful English resources on the Internet uploaded by your teacher

  • Find practical information about each lesson

  • Communicate with your teacher and fellow students

  • Follow the teaching and catch up if you are ill or absent during the course.

Note! We expect that we can run the course as normal classroom instruction. However, we always follow the authorities' recommendations. Therefore, in August we will take stock of the situation and make any necessary adjustments to the courses. For example, in relation to how many students can sit in a room or whether or not we need to change a course to online teaching and the like.

Shellie Hansen

Shellie Hansen is a CELTA and TESOL qualified teacher and holds an MA in counseling psychology. She started teaching English to children in the Philippines, but in 2003 moved back home to Australia, where she began teaching adults. She also lived in the US for 7 years and in the UK for 2, which is why her accent changes every now and then. She is now happily settled in Denmark with her Danish husband and children. She also works with both children and adults in Copenhagen. What Shellie likes about teaching is meeting people from all over the world, and learning about their cultures while helping them reach their language goals.

Shellie recommends
Food and drink: In Sydney – have breakfast or brunch at one of the many outdoor cafés and have lunch at an Asian food court in Chinatown.
Learning tips: Read as much as you can from menus to magazines, watch films and online TED talks. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes – just speak, speak, speak!!
Places to visit: Bondi Beach cliff walk in Sydney, scuba diving in the Philippines and get lost in the energy of New York City.
Literature: Shellie reads anything and everything. What she’s reading now; The Traveller trilogy by John Twelve Hawks & Wonderland by Haruki Murakami.
