B1.2 Business conversation and writing at pre-intermediate level
Dealing with stress, discussing new business sectors, evaluating corporate entertainment options and talking about marketing mix are some of the topics discussed on this course. Therefore, you will learn vocabulary connected to making suggestions, giving opinions, describing trends and numbers and and outlining the details of your product, price, promotion and place.
You will read the article Over half of all business owners feeling increasingly stressed and write a report with suggestions about how to reduce stress amongst employees.
You will also discuss case studies relating to the topics and write an invitation email and a letter recommending a project.
In terms of grammar, we will study, e.g. the past simple, present perfect, time clauses and multiword verbs such as take up, turn down, look into etc.
As small talk is an important part of professional communication, we will practise role-plays in which you introduce people, accept and decline offers, respond to comments, ask for clarification and thank someone.

The book has been developed in cooperation with The Financial Times. We will study selected pages from chapters 5-8.

You will have access to our online learning platform, Moodle, where you will find the course plan, teaching material, homework and other useful online resources for learning English, which your teacher has selected for you and your class. Via Moodle, you can also communicate with your teacher and fellow students.
The number of students on all courses at the Cambridge Institute is a maximum of 8. Small classes mean that your teacher has more time to help you personally during each lesson.
