B2.1 Business conversation and writing
You are now at a stage in your career that demands extra challenges when it comes to communication and relationship building.
What makes a good communicator? What do we do when communication breaks down? How do we improve customer relations? These are some of the topics we will discuss on this course.
You will learn useful language when asking for repetition, clarification and information. In addition, you will practise dealing with technical issues and summarising a call.
Case studies linked to business topics will be discussed in order to broaden your vocabulary and use the communication skills that you have learned. You will read and analyse case studies about the price of success, the globalisation of a company and building customer loyalty.
You will also work with you fellow participants and exchange views on doing business internationally. For written assignments, you will write a sales letter, minutes from a brainstorming session and an email outlining the reasons for decisions you have taken.
We recommend that you buy the book Market Leader 3rd Edition Extra Upper Intermediate Coursebook with DVD-ROM Pack (Pearson Education ESL, ISBN 9781292134819, before the course starts. The book has been developed in cooperation with The Financial Times.

You will have access to our online learning platform, Moodle, where you will find the course plan, teaching material, homework and other useful online resources for learning English, which your teacher has selected for you and your class. Via Moodle, you can also communicate with your teacher and fellow students.
The number of students on all courses at the Cambridge Institute is just 4-8. Small classes mean that your teacher has more time to help you personally during each lesson.
